Top Hollywood actress and UN High Commissioner for Refugees special envoy Angelina Jolie came to Pakistan on Tuesday to aid those affected by the terrible floods. She will go to flood-affected regions and speak with locals face-to-face, according to the International Rescue Committee (IRC).

She was welcomed by Pakistani officials when she landed early in the morning in Karachi, a port city in the country's south. In 2010 and 2005, Jolie traveled to Pakistan to meet with earthquake victims. She is here right now as a member of the emergency response efforts of the International Rescue Committee (IRC).

The Maleficent actor will draw attention to the need for immediate assistance for Pakistan's citizens and for long-term solutions to the issues of climate change and mass migration.
In a news statement, the IRC expressed optimism that her visit would spur action and immediate assistance from the world community, notably the US, which is the country with the highest carbon emissions.

"The climate catastrophe is ruining lives and prospects in Pakistan, with serious effects in particular for women and children," said Shabnam Baloch, country director of IRC Pakistan. Food insecurity and an increase in violence against women and girls are anticipated to come from the economic damage brought on by these floods. To help those in immediate need and to halt climate change from damaging our common futures, we need both immediate assistance and long-term investments. We are hoping that Angelina Jolie's visit will inspire the globe to wake up and take action as more rain is predicted in the upcoming months.

According to the Committee's most recent assessment, individuals urgently need access to food, safe drinking water, shelter, and medical treatment. According to a poll, both women and young girls lack access to menstrual hygiene products. IRC has provided humanitarian aid to more than 50,000 women and girls, including hygiene kits to address the hygienic issues mentioned by women.
